Next week: Mama Agatha on TV!

algemene_video_stillFor the locals in Amsterdam and all of those who like to stay updated on news from the city online, we have an extra special treat: next week, two times a day from Monday through Sunday, Mama Agatha will be broadcast on Amsterdam’s local TV station AT5!
The schedule is as follows (local Amsterdam time):

Wednesday (Aug 10) 16:00
Thursday (Aug 11) 12:00 & 14:00
Friday (Aug 12) 16:00

Selected for Espoo Ciné

logoMama Agatha will be screening at Espoo Ciné International Film Festival in Finland!
Espoo Ciné International Film Festival has established itself as a showcase of modern European cinema in Finland. The festival is dedicated to screen films that demonstrate the variety of European filmmaking with an emphasis on new talent, discovery and artistic quality. During the 10-day festival over 100 feature films are screened to the cinema-loving public in three different locations with attendance figures over 25.000 each year. You can catch Mama Agatha in the section “Bike Shorts” on August 26.

Bicycle Drive-In Open Air Cinema in Valetta, Malta

Let’s encourage more people to switch from cars to bicycles! Hosted by the Embassy of the Netherlands in Malta, one week from now, Mama Agatha will be screening at the Bicycle Drive-In Open Air Cinema in St George Square, Valetta. If you happen to be living nearby or visiting the area, make sure not to miss it! Don’t forget your bike – we start May 12, 2016 at 8 PM.

Back to our roots: Screening in Amsterdam SouthEast

Almost two years ago, we were preparing to start filming the cycling classes of “Mama Agatha” – Agartha Frimpong – and her team in the SouthEast gym. Now, just as another round of classes for migrant women has started, we’re so happy to announce that the film is finally returning back into the Amsterdam Zuidoost community. Mama Agatha will soon be screening at the place where it all began, at SouthEast, Amsterdam on Saturday, May 7 2016, 15:00!

Last minute: Tomorrow at W139 Amsterdam!

A last-minute announcement: Mama Agatha is screening tomorrow at W139 Amsterdam!
Khaled invites refugees in Amsterdam and surroundings for an evening with poetry, music and film. During the evening, you’ll have a chance to see the Leiden International Short Film Experience Audience Award winner, Mama Agatha, and the trailer of Yamen Abd Alnour’s Under the Sky. In colaboration with Stichting de Vrolijkheid, the band Art Colours will perform their beautiful music.

On Monday, April 11, Mama Agatha is screening at the 16th Festival de Cine de Lanzarote.
In case you’re feeling adventurous, we just want to mention that you could still hop on a plane and visit what is by far one of the most stunning film festival settings on this pristine Atlantic island.

Screening in beautiful Ålesund, Norway

13063109_1118995071486799_6745297273698793467_oFollowing our screening in Stockholm, Sweden in 2015 and in Oslo, Norway in January, Mama Agatha will conclude our big 2016 screening tour in Scandinavia and welcome spring with what will be our northernmost screening so far: It is a pleasure to announce our second showing in Norway, where Foundation Kulturkvartalet will be presenting the film during a bicycle-themed weekend at the Jugendstilsenteret and art museum Kube on April 23, 2016 in the magical, stunning fjord city of Ålesund. Mama Agatha in Lille and Lanzarote

Some more fantastic news – right after wrapping up the unforgettable 31st Santa Barbara International Film Festival, Mama Agatha is returning back to Europe with two upcoming festival screenings – in competition at the 31st European Film Festival in gorgeous Lille, France (March 11-18) and the equally marvelous Atlantic setting of the 16th Lanzarote International Film Festival (April 4-16)! Make sure to keep these two in your calendar if you’re in the area or have friends who are around.

Selected for Santa Barbara International Film Festival

2410f42c-44ac-41ca-9044-8c6f7c5fd37bWe have some more news to kick off another year of mobility and documentary cinema, and this one is a biggie: Mama Agatha is making an entry to the U.S. West Coast with a screening at the very prestigious, Academy Award-nominating 31st Santa Barbara International Film Festival. From Wednesday, February 3 until Saturday, February 13, 2016, you’ll have a chance to see a selection of the best and most groundbreaking work in current cinema, participate in community events and educational programs for all ages and meet celebrities really close to the epicenter of world filmmaking: Hollywood!
If you are nearby next month, make sure to take some time to catch a screening of Mama Agatha and other fantastic movies, or recommend it to your friends in the area!

Upcoming screening in Oslo

Another event we are super excited about is the Bike Film Night at Cinemateket theatre in Oslo, Norway on Wednesday, 20 January! Mama Agatha is one of the highlights of this evening hosted by FutureBuilt and Klimafestivalen which brings together film and cycling.
